to keep this authentic you need to have horses, cows, chickens, sheep, and goats. not as a petting zoo (though not a bad idea for the young guest) but also part of the daily routine. Horses to ride cows for what ever and so on and so forth.

Very well. I will look into the zoning.
The other problem is a caretaker. Thats something even more to check into. Vet bills, and food stuffs.
Good idea.

This is a topic that comes up in Amtgard quite often.
Period vs. Fantasy.
Horse rides, and an authentic livestock herd would be extremely neat, except for one thing. Animals poop. Would you want to fight your fantasy battle of 200 on 200 across poop-stained land? You psychos in SCA probably would, and even some Larpers, but this is a consideration to not be taken lightly. Americans in general, unlike Germans, do not like poo.

LOL. Funny. well thats been figured out.
4-8 hourses for daily use and rental, these will have htier own stablery personnel who will handle all. next to the stables will be a 'petting zoo' for the other animals. A large stone fence can be placed around the village if need be to keep the animals in rather than cooping them in a small cage ara.
Thoughts?

You could even allow sheep and goat grazing, like they do on military bases, sheep poo is hard and doesn't break easily. The farmer just has to dress in period clothing. And they mow your grass for free (the sheep, not the herder, contrary to popular belief).

well there is always another use for the poo. it was authentically used as fuel for the fire place. it could be used the same way again. or it could be used as fertilizer for the gardens. and if somone complains bout the poo. well it is authentic. im sure they complained bout it back then too.
