This could be one hell of a war. It may take a few days to do this. It would be interesting to see a bunch of rennies fighting against the LOTR guys.
Ex) SCA <vs> Dagorhir or Amtgard
I dont know of any other reality based LARP folks.

There are dozens of Larps here in the US, primarily on east and west coast. Most are for-pay, and tout having very good looking garb. SCA and Amtgard are the two largest chapters, however.
The differences between rules and equipment can make such an option difficult at best. On the bright side, many people play across the various Larps, I know folks who do both Amtgard and SCA, or Belegarth, for example.

Of course there would have to be some rules agree to by both sides. Again this would be a theme as well so there would also be a lot of areas to look into.

Obviously there would have to be a committee to set these rules and 'personas' allowed. what-not
Is this a good theme idea?

depends on the rules, bro. If you set up SCA-style rattan, SCA fighters win. Set up cold-steel, Belegarth and cold steel fighters win. Set up ultralights or other foam, Amtgard usually wins. At least thats the kind of things I've heard (from the Amtgard side of the house).
