MY thoughts are that the village should have some 150 shops/homes in it. If this is a reasonalbe idea let me know. How the heck was a medieval village set up anyway?

It depends on the set up. Many had their shops on the first floor of their building with living quarters above and some sort of storage below. Residential and commercial areas could mix or be separate. If there's a certain theme you're following, say England in the 1500's, it will differe from South France in another time.

Interesting. I think this would have to be up for vote. I guess it would have to be able to fit in with the Rennies and the LOTR folks. I am wide open to the best suggestions.

A thing to keep in mind is that this would be the only facility of it's kind in Wisconsin, probably the midwest. Even renfolk who bitch about the "bricks instead of stones" and the fire extinguisher in the suit of armor will still be there, paying good money, because there is nothing else available. Or they could go to Friar Tuck's, I guess.

ok i did a lil bit of research on this. castle centralized in town. city around it. 4 main entrances to the castle. or if castle was farther away. often times could of been up to 5 miles away from closest village. village almost all set up like most businesses run down in your local city. store on the main floor. extra storage in the basement or in a shed behind. while the runners of the stand/ store aka owners lived above.

Thanks Reilloc for the research. Good job. I think I myself would prefer the castle on one end of the village, so as not to detract from the experience and look of the village itself.
